Mary Brent Wehrli Scholarship Fund
About the Scholarship
DSHCV offers an annual scholarship up to $5,000 for students who have completed two years of study at the College of the Desert with an emphasis in Environmental Horticulture or Turfgrass Management and has or will transfer to a University to complete the Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Our goal in this scholarship is to support qualified COD transfer students who will, through their education and career, make a positive difference in the sustainable horticulture and landscape environments of our homes and public places.
We are open to consideration of many majors; but the focus of the major must be the study of our natural environment, horticulture or landscape. Such majors include, but are not limited to: Agricultural Science; Natural & Agricultural Science; Agriculture & Environmental Education; Environmental Horticulture; Horticulture & Urban Forestry; Hydrology; Sustainable Environmental Design; Sustainable Agriculture & Forestry; Agricultural & Environmental Plant Sciences; Environmental Earth & Soil Sciences; Environmental Management & Protection; Forestry & Natural Resources and Landscape Design.
This is a competitive scholarship program. We seek to support students who have demonstrated a commitment and ability to complete their Bachelor’s Degree, who plan to study for a career in the environmental and horticulture fields, who have shown leadership within their community and are dedicated to giving back to their community. We are, in particular, enthusiastic to be able to support students from the Coachella Valley who are the first or among the first in their family to attend college.
