How to sign up for popular CVWD tours

Two tours offered by the Coachella Valley Water District in the fall have become so popular pre-registration is necessary.

Both narrated bus tours start at 7 a.m. and leave from the CVWD Palm Desert office at 75-515 Hovley Lane East, Palm Desert. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included.

Here are the tours:

Colorado River & Canal Tour on Thursday, Oct. 19 and Wednesday, Oct. 25. This all-day tour covers Southern California water history and travels as far east as Yuma, Ariz. Cost is $25 per person.

Water Awareness Tour on Thursday, Nov. 16. This tour lasts until early afternoon and covers the history and operation of CVWD. It is free.

Here’s how to register:

First, sign up at “Notify Me” by clicking on the “Stay Connected” button on the CVWD home page: www.CVWD.org. Those who have signed up on “Notify Me” will be notified on Wednesday, Sept. 20 that tour tickets for the Colorado River & Canal Tour will go on sale online at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. Signups for the Water Awareness Tour also will start that day.

Both tours are also usually offered in the spring. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
