Field Trip to Oak Glen, Wildlands Conservancy

Wildlands Conservancy's Oak Glen Preserve

Join us on Saturday, November 10 for a field trip to the Wildlands Conservancy Oak Glen Preserve and Botanic Garden in Yucaipa for our Desert Horticultural Society of the Coachella Valley members. In the San Bernadino mountains on over 2000 acres the Oak Glen ranch was saved from residential subdivision by the Wildlands Conservancy in 1996. It is a beautiful property nestled high up in the mountains with long vistas, meadows, meandering trails and the Southern California Montane Bontanic Garden. We will have a private ranger led tour (or hike details to come on time of day), although it is not bloom season the Conservancy is beautiful to visit any time of the year. This property has been an apple ranch for generations and the family still farms part of the property as an apple orchard. Time allowed we may have an Apple Packing Tour at Los Rios Rancho. We can have lunch onsite at the Los Rios Rancho Farm Store and munch on bbq and bakery items. After lunch wander the farm store and don’t forget to bring home fresh apple cider, it is so delicious! Time spent at Oak Glen feels like you’ve really gotten away, its a beautiful way to spend a day. Time to be determined - For those who would like to carpool we will leave from the Wellness Park in Palm Springs at 9:30am. This event is open to members and their guests. We are requesting a $5 donation from members and the costs to guests is $15. A portion of your cost will be donated to the Wildlands Conservancy and the balance to our Mary Brent Wehrli Scholarship Fund. Click here for a map of the day. And here is a map of the property. Hope to see you there!
